Lip filler is one of the most requested cosmetic treatments and can achieve multiple outcomes. The three most popular fillers used in the lips are Juvederm Ultra®, Juvederm Ultra Plus®, and Juvederm Volbella®. Lip filler goals include increasing the size of the lips, plumping the lips, defining the border of the lips, and/or filling in the lines around the mouth (i.e. smoking, straw usage, etc.). Since every patient has unique anatomy and goals, the choice of filler and technique are customized to these factors.

When your goal is a larger lip, a thicker product like Juvederm Ultra® or Ultra Plus® is used. Typically, we start with one syringe and can build over multiple appointments to a size that will still be proportionate to your other facial features.

When your goal is a plumper or more defined lip, a thinner product like Volbella® is used. Volbella is injected in the lips and around the border to rejuvenate the aging lip.

When your goal is to improve the lines around your mouth, Volbella® or a combination of Juvederm and Volbella® is used to fill in the vertical lines and make them less noticeable. This can be done without adding any filler in the actual lip.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Prior to your lip injections, you will meet with your provider for a comprehensive consultation and will be provided with a customized treatment plan.

During your appointment, before photos will be taken and a topical numbing cream will be applied. When the injection process begins ice and other distraction techniques are used to ensure the most comfortable experience possible. Typically, it takes 15-30 minutes to complete your injections. Results are immediate and the reveal is our favorite part!

After your injections, you may experience bruising, swelling, redness, and tenderness at the injection site that may last from 24 hours to 2 weeks. Icing the area will help improve these side effects. Before you leave, you will be given post-care instructions and we will schedule a follow up appointment to assess your results.
