KYBELLA^® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells in the treatment area under the chin. It also can be used to destroy fat in the jowls, flanks (love handles), or stomach. The active ingredient in KYBELLA^® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat, KYBELLA^® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness in the area. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

For maximum results, 2-4 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart is recommended.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

Before treatment, the exact treatment area is mapped out and marked for safety and accuracy. An ice pack is applied to the treatment area prior to the injections to numb the area and help to reduce swelling. Then a series of injections are made into the treatment area. There may be slight burning sensation after each injection. The actual procedure takes less than 15 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area.

Following the procedure, you will experience bruising, swelling, numbness, and tenderness that will decrease over a few days. These symptoms may last a few weeks.
